Terms of Service

These are the terms you agree to by using Narrative. They are short because the product is small: you subscribe, you write stories, and we keep them for you. If a line here is unclear, write to [email protected] and ask.

Eligibility

You must be 18 or older to use Narrative. Accounts belonging to minors may be closed.

Your account

An account is an email address. There is no password to choose, forget, or have stolen — when you sign in we mail you a link that works once and stops working after fifteen minutes. The session it opens lasts sixty days, and any session can be revoked.

Anyone who can read your email can get into your account. That is the trade for having no password, and it is worth knowing before you use a shared inbox.

What it costs

Three plans, each billed monthly:

A turn is one passage the writer produces for you. Every plan carries up to 245,000 tokens of story context — the plans differ in how much you write, not in how much the story remembers.

Payment goes through Stripe. Stripe holds your card and we never see it; what we keep is a customer id and whether the subscription is paying. Your plan renews on the same date each month until you cancel it.

Stopping

Cancel whenever you like, from the billing portal linked in your account. You keep everything through the end of the paid month; we do not refund part of a month, and we do not bill you again.

A free account can still read and edit every story it has. What it cannot do is ask for new writing.

What you may write

Narrative supports a broad range of fiction. You choose the tone and content preferences for your stories, including whether to permit mature material.

Three things are out, and they are not negotiable: sexual content involving minors, or characters written to read as minors; sexual content about real people who have not agreed to it; anything illegal where you are. An account that does one of those is closed, without a refund.

The model that writes your prose belongs to another company and applies its own rules on top of ours. It will refuse things now and then. We cannot overrule it.

Your stories are yours

You own what you write and what the writer produces for you. We claim nothing in it. We do not publish it, sell it, show it to anyone, or use it to train anything.

Each account's stories sit in their own directory, apart from every other account's. We open one only when you ask us to look at something, or when we have to in order to fix a fault you have reported.

Where your writing goes

Writing sends relevant story text, current Story Memory and your instruction to Anthropic's Claude, which writes the passage and its memory together. If the direct route is unavailable, the same Claude model runs through Google Antigravity. Helper and Draft Studio use OpenAI for the requests and relevant story details they need. Narration sends passage text to ElevenLabs. Sign-in mail goes through Postmark, and payments go through Stripe.

Each of them handles what it receives under its own terms. Privacy sets out which of them gets what.

What we do not promise

Narrative is a small service, not a utility. It goes down. We do not promise that it will be up, that any particular passage will be good, or that the model will behave next month the way it behaves today — models change under us and we do not control that.

Keep your own copy of anything you would be sorry to lose.

The service is provided as it is. So far as the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the last twelve months.

Ending it

You can stop at any time: cancel the subscription, and write to us if you want the account and everything in it deleted.

We will close an account that breaks the limits above, that puts the service or other people at risk, or that charges a payment back instead of asking for help.

If we ever shut Narrative down, we will tell you before it happens rather than after.

Changes to these terms

These will change when the product does. The date at the top says when they last moved. If a change affects what you are paying for, we will email you before it takes effect.
